Why is my home suddenly infested with ants?
We’ve lived in this house for one year now, I never had much problem with insects entering the house. Nothing’s different, but suddenly ants are appearing and crawling everywhere. We first noticed them on the dining table, so we removed the table cloth in case juice spills were attracting them.
But they’re still there. The other day I was sitting on the bare floor and noticed ants crawling.
And now they appear at the most unlikely places – our laptop, the fish aquarium, even on the cables for our lamps.
The weather’s normal. Hot Asian weather like always.
What could be bringing these ants here??
And secondarily, how do we get rid of them?

No, it wasn’t the juice spills that attracted them. I meant, we took off the tablecloth in case there was something on it. Even so, we still have ants on our table. It’s not a candy under the stove or anything, because the ants are on surfaces that have no candy or any food.
I have to assume that the ants came in due to the spills. Once ants start a nest and the queen is active, it’s basically impossible to get rid of them without attacking the colony. A lot of times it will be very hard to find the colony because of the way they hide themselves. However, if you can take out the queen, the colony will disperse and leave your home. I find the best way to do this is by using Raid Double Control Ant Bait Traps. These traps have 2 types of food in them. The ants will come in, take a piece, and go back to the colony to feed the rest of the ants. Once the ants begin eating it, it kills them. Eventually the queen will try some and she too will be killed. All you have to do is lay the traps in a place you have seen the ants walking.
